The sport of archery takes many forms.
Target archery is the most popular , shooting at the classic gold centred target at ranges from 20 yards to 100 yard. Luckily for us in the climate of Northern England and Indoor version exists.
Clout shooting is an another outdoor form of archery trying to get shoot close to a flag in the ground from 180 yards. This recreates to old shooting practice method of our ancestors with longbows
Field archery is the closest we get to hunting with a bow and arrow. That is shooting over rough terrain (the rougher the better) at small targets.
All these types of archery use the same (or similar equipment) ..The two main bow types are explained HERE
Other forms exist including Flight Archery (longest distance wins), Popinjay (from Belgium- shooting upwards at feathered lumps of wood), Ski Archery (skiing and shooting arrows ) and Run Archery.(running and shooting arrows)
All is explained in our collection of guides. Use navigation buttons above right
